LASER HAIR REMOVAL FOR MEN

BEFORE THE SESSION

• Respect as much as possible the session spacing suggested by the practitioners.
• Four weeks before your first appointment, stop waxing, tweezing or using an electric epilator on the treated areas.
• Stop discoloration on treated areas.
• Do not use essential oils 1 week before the session and 72 hours after.
• Do not apply tanning activator or take sun capsules 1 week before the session.
• Do not take photosensitizing medication 1 week before the session.

THE DAY BEFORE THE SESSION

• The area to be waxed should be shaved the day before the session. The area should be shaved so that the hair does not protrude from the skin.
• We recommend using a shaving cream to avoid irritating the skin.
• Do not put anything on the skin of the treated areas on the day of the session (deodorant, milk, cream, etc.).

Results are visible after 5 sessions, but the number of sessions varies depending on the area treated, skin and hair type, and hair growth cycle. On average, it takes between 5 and 8 sessions to achieve optimal results, as not all hairs are in the growth phase at the same time.

The total duration of a laser hair removal protocol depends on several factors: the area treated, the density of the hair and the growth cycle of each person. In general, it is necessary to plan between 5 and 8 sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart to cover all the hair growth cycles. The complete protocol can therefore extend over several months in order to ensure optimal and lasting results.

Laser hair removal provides permanent hair reduction, but some hair may grow back over time, particularly under the influence of certain factors such as hormonal imbalances. Occasional maintenance sessions may be necessary to maintain results.

The color and density of the hair, as well as the pigmentation of the skin, directly influence the absorption capacity of the laser. The higher the contrast between the skin and the hair (light skin, dark hair), the more effective the treatment. However, modern technologies, such as those used at Studio Fauve, allow the power to be adjusted to treat a variety of phototypes; this is assessed during the diagnosis.

Each skin reacts differently, however the tip of our machine is permanently cooled to 5° the feeling of discomfort is minimized.

Tattooed skin: It is not recommended to perform laser hair removal on a tattooed area. The laser, designed to target the melanin in the hair, could interact with the pigments in the tattoo, potentially causing burns or altering the design.

Recent exposure to sun and ultraviolet rays.

Taking photosensitizing medications or medications likely to increase hairiness: Androgens, Aspirin, Corticosteroids, Dilantin, Cyclosporine, Minoxidil, Psoralen, Isotretinoin, etc.

The use of self-tanning lotions or tanning activators.

If you have diseases, moles, poor blood circulation, precautions may be necessary. The same applies in case of diabetes, epilepsy, coagulation disorders, wound healing disorders, unbalanced cutaneous porphyria, immunosuppression, active general infection, herpes, hormonal disorders not controlled by an endocrinologist.

If you are under 18, laser hair removal is possible with parental permission

It is not recommended to use hair removal methods that pull out the hair by the root, such as waxing or tweezing, between laser hair removal sessions because the laser targets hair follicles in the growth phase (anagen phase), and pulling out the hair could disrupt this cycle. On the other hand, shaving is a recommended option because it cuts the hair without affecting the follicle, allowing the laser treatment to remain effective. Similarly, there are no contraindications regarding depilatory creams.

The laser hair removal protocol is performed under the supervision of a doctor who checks the compatibility of your skin with the laser. In addition, the laser used is designed to precisely target the melanin present in the hair follicles without affecting the surrounding tissues. Unlike ionizing radiation (such as UV rays), the laser does not cause cellular mutations, which means that it is not carcinogenic. In the long term, laser hair removal therefore presents no documented danger to the skin or the rest of the body.
