LASER ARMPITS HAIR REMOVAL: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Laser hair removal removes each hair follicle by targeting the melanin present in them. The laser's light beam is absorbed by the pigment in the hair, transforming the energy into heat and thus destroying the follicles, preventing regrowth. Thanks to this targeted action, the laser protects the surrounding skin , offering a non-invasive method suitable for all skin types.

The armpit area is a receptive area for laser treatment because the hairs there are usually highly pigmented and consequently melanin is concentrated there. In addition, their configuration protects them from UV rays, optimizing the safety of the treatment throughout the year.

Treatment duration and results

Laser hair removal targets hairs in the growth phase (anagen, where melanin is most present), but since not all hairs are synchronized, several sessions spaced approximately 6 to 8 weeks apart are necessary. The results are visible from the first session (approximately 20% of hairs are eliminated per session). After a complete protocol of 5 to 8 sessions, up to 98% of hairs can be permanently eliminated .

The importance of skin diagnosis

Before each protocol, a diagnosis is carried out, which allows a tailor-made protocol to be defined and ensures optimal safety throughout the treatment.

During the diagnosis, our laser expert performs an in-depth analysis to determine the nature of the hair (down or pigmented hair) and its reactivity to the laser. Contraindications (photosensitizing treatment, tattoo on the area, etc.) will also be studied. Finally, the skin phototype will be assessed to check the compatibility of the skin with laser hair removal.

We also inform you about essential recommendations before and after sessions in order to optimize safety and guarantee optimal results.

LASER TECHNOLOGY AT STUDIO FAUVE

The Studio Fauve laser uses a specific 808 nm light, considered today as the most efficient and safest for permanent hair removal. It reacts only with the melanin in the hair, thus protecting the skin.

The laser has a cooling system to protect your skin from the risk of burns as well as to reduce the feeling of discomfort.

The device, which has the CE Medical marking, is fully automated. The measurement of the melanin level and the analysis of each skin type before the start of the treatment allow for personalized and therefore safer and more effective care.

Between five and eight sessions on average are necessary to eliminate all the hair follicles.

Hair removal with our laser machine can remove 80 to 98% of hair in the treated areas.

LASTING REDUCTION OF ARMPITs HAIR

LASER TREATMENT ADAPTED TO SENSITIVE SKIN

The laser tip is continuously cooled to 5°. Effective against ingrown hairs.

FAQ LASER ARMPITS

All your questions about underarm laser hair removal at Studio Fauve

How to prepare for a laser hair removal session?

BEFORE THE SESSION

Respect as much as possible the session spacing suggested by the practitioners.

Four weeks before your first appointment, stop waxing, tweezing or using an electric epilator on the treated areas.

Stop discoloration on treated areas.

Do not use essential oils 1 week before the session and 72 hours after.

Do not apply tanning activator or take sun capsules 1 week before the session.

Do not take photosensitizing medication 1 week before the session.

THE DAY BEFORE THE SESSION

The area to be waxed should be shaved the day before the session. The area should be shaved so that the hair does not protrude from the skin.

We recommend using a shaving cream to avoid irritating the skin.

Do not put anything on the skin of the treated areas on the day of the session (deodorant, milk, cream, etc.).

How many sessions are needed for lasting results?

The armpit area is an area that provides particularly good results because the hairs there are generally very pigmented, therefore concentrated in melanin.

Results are visible from the first sessions but the number of sessions varies depending on the type of skin and hair, as well as the hair growth cycle. On average, it takes between 5 and 8 sessions to obtain optimal results, because not all hairs are in the growth phase simultaneously.

How long does an underarm laser hair removal protocol last?

The total duration of a laser hair removal protocol depends on several factors: the density of the hair and the growth cycle of each person. In general, it is necessary to plan between 5 and 8 sessions spaced approximately 6 to 8 weeks apart to cover all the hair growth cycles. The complete protocol can therefore extend over several months in order to ensure optimal and lasting results.

Is laser hair removal permanent?

Laser hair removal provides permanent hair reduction, but some hair may grow back over time, particularly under the influence of certain factors such as hormonal imbalances. Occasional maintenance sessions may be necessary to maintain results.

Is laser effective on all hair types and skin colors?

The color and density of the hair, as well as the pigmentation of the skin, directly influence the absorption capacity of the laser. The higher the contrast between the skin and the hair (light skin, dark hair), the more effective the treatment. However, modern technologies, such as those used at Studio Fauve, allow the power to be adjusted to treat a variety of phototypes; this is assessed during the diagnosis.

Is underarm laser hair removal painful?

Each skin reacts differently, however the tip of our machine is permanently cooled to 5° the feeling of discomfort is minimized.

What are the contraindications?

Tattooed skin: It is not recommended to perform laser hair removal on a tattooed area. The laser, designed to target the melanin in the hair, could interact with the pigments in the tattoo, potentially causing burns or altering the design.

Pregnancy.

Recent exposure to sun and ultraviolet rays.

Taking photosensitizing medications or medications likely to increase hairiness: Androgens, Aspirin, Corticosteroids, Dilantin, Cyclosporine, Minoxidil, Psoralen, Isotretinoin, etc.

The use of self-tanning lotions or tanning activators.

If you have diseases, moles, poor blood circulation, precautions may be necessary. The same applies in case of diabetes, epilepsy, coagulation disorders, wound healing disorders, unbalanced cutaneous porphyria, immunosuppression, active general infection, herpes, hormonal disorders not controlled by an endocrinologist.

If you are under 18, laser hair removal is possible with parental permission

Can you wax between two laser hair removal sessions?

It is not recommended to use hair removal methods that pull out the hair by the root, such as waxing or tweezing, between laser hair removal sessions because the laser targets hair follicles in the growth phase (anagen phase), and pulling out the hair could disrupt this cycle. On the other hand, shaving is a recommended option because it cuts the hair without affecting the follicle, allowing the laser treatment to remain effective. Similarly, there are no contraindications regarding depilatory creams.

Are the rates the same for men and women?

Yes, we don't differentiate, our rates are the same for everyone, you can check them here .

Is laser hair removal risky?

The laser hair removal protocol is performed under the supervision of a doctor who checks the compatibility of your skin with the laser. In addition, the laser used is designed to precisely target the melanin present in the hair follicles without affecting the surrounding tissues. Unlike ionizing radiation (such as UV rays), the laser does not cause cellular mutations, which means that it is not carcinogenic. In the long term, laser hair removal therefore presents no documented danger to the skin or the rest of the body.
